I Don’t Separate the Body From the Birth

Birth support is often talked about as education, planning, and emotional reassurance. Those things matter — but they’re only part of the picture.

Birth is also a physical experience. Your nervous system, your muscles, your joints, and how safe your body feels all play a role in how pregnancy and birth unfold.

As both a doula and a licensed massage therapist, my approach to care is intentionally integrated. Education, advocacy, and bodywork inform each other rather than existing as separate services.

This means:

  • Supporting nervous system regulation throughout pregnancy

  • Paying attention to how the body adapts as birth approaches

  • Offering care that acknowledges both physical and emotional demands

  • Preparing for birth in a way that’s embodied, not just intellectual

Many first-time birthers want more than information. They want support that helps them feel grounded, capable, and supported in their body — not just prepared on paper.

If you’re looking for birth support that treats your body as part of the plan, scheduling a meet & greet is a good first step.
